Gai is Shulato's childhood friend. He was sickly as a child, but studying martial arts made him grow up strong. His personality is almost a polar opposite of Shulato's. Gai is always cool and calm, prefering to outsmart his opponents rather than simply beat them up. On earth, he was a gentle, kind-hearted person who would never hurt a fly. After being transported to Tenkuukai, however, he suddenly became cold-hearted and almost sadistic, single-minded about killing Shulato. His Sohma was black, like that of the Asura gods, leading Shulato to believe that he'd been somehow possessed by the Asura gods. The real reason, however, went far deeper (spoiler).

Gai's techniques:

• Shippu Marouken (Hurricane Demon Wolf Strike), which creates a strong wind that literally blows his opponents away
• Yasha Kingoushou (Yasha Golden Strength Drain).

His family consists of his father, Hirokazu and his older sister, Mina. His mother died of an illness when he was 4 years old.
